HiViz reflective and light set up

Yes yes yes!!!! This is my favourite topic!!!
I walk my mare out on the lanes in hand and this is what we wear:
Yellow high viz neckband with flashing red light
Reflective tail band with flashing red light
Yellow bell boots on fronts
Orange leg wraps on all four legs
Pink hi viz quarter sheet
Yellow hi viz vest with red writing
Yellow hi viz breeches
Yellow hi viz noseband cover
White light on hat (if foggy/dusky)
Red flashing lights on backs of boots
L plated front and back as she's only just started going out for walks.
I have a plain pink sheet and a sheet which has horse and a caution sign. For the plain pink one I've got some red reflective tape so I can write "card dent horses die" on it.
I think my pink stands out by far the most and have had lots of comments on how visible we are. This is one of the sheets I have it's really good and cheap: https://m.kramer.co.uk/Universal-Re...kraemer-pferdesport.67-GB&pi=340196&ci=262556 it's also good because you can see the horse shmbol through hedges.
I have been compared to a Christmas tree and took it as a compliment :D

no pics but I'm quite good at lighting up (bit of a dark rider, mainly off road)

I really like my reflective light up breastplate, great even if dodgy weather and I also used to use it just as a necklace to get mine down the road to the field as the light dropped - under trees so dark quickly. Mine is green as like to try and keep to the white to front/red to back situation as I think it helps drivers.
He would also wear an excercise sheet with one of my bike lights on the back and leg bands always. I do have a tail strip if it is really not exercise sheet weather. Leg bands on him always.

I would wear two fluorescent yellow reflective straps round my legs with red LEDS in them (I wear them on the bike too, like to multipurpose stuff!).
I have a light up rambo vest but I don't like that it is red in front but still use it
and a hat band.

I don't have the horse at the moment but have just purchased one of those full reflective jackets for cycling in, having seena few people in them they really work - but only in the dark!

Wow, the full monty. Do you have any pics? I've recently bought a 360 reflective jacket for the evening and not had it on yet on the horse but can't wait to try it out

This is a pic of her in not quite all of it I'll post a pic of us both tomorrow so you get the full effect.

I have just bought one of those jackets too and I'm impressed. I'm only planning on using it on an evening as considering going out but will have to do a short distance up a straight street lit road to get to the off road hacking along with lots and lots of other reflective sand lights. Would just like to see other people's setups before I try it myself

This is my breastplate, I sewed the reflective strip onto it too, I do think it's one of the best things I have ever bought!

and yes, that is what I have done. Some people are aghast I think it it very much depends on indvidual set ups... I've always considered myself more visible lit up in the dark than in many daylight conditions
I don't have any pics as always on my own!

I don't think I have a photo of our daylight hacking gear, but For crossing the road to get to the arena in the dark we have the full mercury quarter sheet and boots.

Plus lights front and back, plus I started using 'heel spur' lights designed for people but that fit nicely over his boots as he has skinny legs, these are amazing and show up from miles away especially when he moves. I use a reflective halter under his bridle and reflective front boots too normally.

This is my running kit which I wear bits of when crossing the road.

I looked at these but have trying to keep to red to back and white to front. They do look bright though and I think I've seen them on sale

Really can't miss that under lights

Really can't miss that under lights

Nope! Cars have been so much more careful since I've started using it, I feel so much safer crossing the road now. I also add really good lights so that pedestrians, cyclists, anyone without lights can still see us.

I had a terrifying episode one morning years ago when he got a fright and got away from me whilst I led him over the road and galloped off down the road in the dark. He had some high viz on but now he goes out covered head to toe in reflective and fluorescent gear so if ever he loses me, day or night, people will get a headstart on seeing him.

try bicycle arm or leg bands for horses legs they flash and are bright, i also velcro two together as a hat band (they work well as a dog collar too :) ) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Time-To-R...637370?hash=item1c8a7e9b3a:g:iIUAAOSwB-1Y53QM

This is every day daylight warm weather set up. Night time rides I’ve got a full kit of ultra reflective stuff but it’s too hot for that and don’t need to ride in the dark yet thankfully.

I also have a hi viz top and chaps on.

Great thread!

I've actually just backed a crowd funding campaign for attractive hi-viz clothing so see if I can avoid like like a hi-viz bin bag on a horse this winter LOL

This sounds great, where can I go and support it....the more of this stuff exists the better as I for one am much more vain than I would like to think.
