I have shortish legs with wide calves. I'm thinking of getting a nice pair of leather boots for the winter. Not for mucking out in - just general yard wear and riding and probably to wear down the pub too! Which ones should I get?

Thanks!

I tried the coniston boots on earlier in the week. They dont do different calf measurements. They arent as adjustable as they look and i couldnt get them done up round my calfs! i ended up with the mountain horse high rider in brown and love them. I wouldnt recommend dubarrys for riding in tbh, they may be comfy but they arent smooth leather next to the saddle so can imagine they would mark it.

Get the Ariat Grasmeres as they are easily adjustable

I live in mine!

HI Black'n'White. I have had two pairs of Dubarry's now and would say that they are fine for yard work and casual wear but they aren't the best for riding in. Okay for hacking but I really wouldn't want to school in them. My experience is that even with the best of care they do not stand up to repeated wetting either. Neither of mine have gone more than a few months without cracking across the top of the foot and I treat mine meticulously. I only use them for dogwalking really but I do have to say that they are really, really comfortable.

My friend has just bought a pair of the Rydale Malhams and have to say, they are really nice! Always wanted a pair of dubarry's but am tempted by the Rydales now

I personally can not fault my Dubarrys. I have worn them for 3 years now every day and ride out in the for hacking but would not recomend for schooling as the get stuck under the saddle flap. They have cracked eventually accross the top but that is because i stupidly left them next to a radiator but they are still water proof right to the top as often go wading in the sea with them when i walk the dog. They are so comfortable and full worth the money.

I have Dublin River Tall Boots. I have small feet (4's) and wide calves (40 - 41 cm) but can get these on, they are extremely comfortable but would not say mine are waterproof in really wet conditions. Have seen them on ebay from prequestrian at £85 delivered.
