Was hacking out Ali yesterday, and decided to go on a road I don't go on very often for a change... On the way back whilst I was riding along that road, I met a lady who certainly appeared to be a Natural Horsemanship fanatic...

She was riding in shorts and runners with no hat, no saddle, and her horse was in one of those Parelli style bitless rope halters... She was also riding in the middle of the road with oncoming cars

As I was riding past her once the cars had passed (I had "parked" Ali on the grass verge) I politely said hello and she just looked up and down at Ali and I and walked off without saying anything... Was it because...

A) I was riding in a saddle with stirrups

B) Ali had a bridle with a fulmer and grackle... That's just downright cruelty isn't it?

All horses should be in bitless bridles and be allowed to p*ss off with their rider on board, shouldn't they?
C) I had bandaged Ali all round
D) I was carrying a whip... Blimey that must mean I beat the sh*t out of my horse!

E) I was actually wearing breeches, boots and gaiters and a hat

F) Ali was clean and his mane and tail were pulled

How downright cruel!

Or was it because Ali was wearing a diamante browband? Now THAT is cruel

Her horse was only recently broken as well, and that road isn't the quietest... And after seeing that horse's reaction to a rattley trailer passing by when she was in a field I dread to think what would have happened if a rattley trailer had passed by yesterday when her owner was riding her on the road...

I have ridden down quiet roads and played in the fields on Castle in runners, no hat and just a headcollar and leadrope, but he was a VERY safe pony... I'd never do that on Ali though!

Nor would I do that on a busy enough road...
