this is going to sound stupid
but i need some motivation.
i finished my exams today
and i desperately want to achieve my dream
so i need a job
i have two days next week at the yard
and hopefully more in july
handing out cvs tomorrow

and a girl at the yard got to ride someones dressage horse on tues, and a showjumper today :@:@

why do i never get opportunities
i really want to have my own yard and breed and produce sports horses.i know its far fetched and i will probably never get to do it

but i desperately want that; its the only thing that keeps me going

am i just unlucky that i never seem to be good enough to take opportunities
eg; i nearly had a job with an eventer, she said i rode well and what she wanted riding wise but didnt have the experience with comp horses
ok so i went and spoke to the YM and got a job; going to start BHS exams in september

is there anything else i can do
it makes me depressed because i am not at a high enough level to ride for someone else or get sponsorship

any ideas?? or advice??

SELL YOURSELF! Seriously, get over the very British habit of being self deprecating and get used to telling people how good you are! It doesn't need to be boastful, but if you don't tell them what you can do how on earth will they know? Confidence is key

but now how do i go about that and who do i speak to?

the thing is i know a few people that are above themselves and boast.. or parents boast for them and i really dont want to be like that, as its my worst nightmare

and because wilmas a pain sometimes, it looks like i cant ride because shes bouncing around or throwing her head and pulling my hands, so it looks like im harsh with my hands then

if it were me i would do a levels. theres not much money in horses. i have just finished two years at college doing a national diploma in horse managment convinced i wanted to work with horses and what a waste of time. im now joining the avon and somerset police. complete opposite

I agree with taking your alevels.
I did, and have now worked with horses ever since, BUT i can go and do something with my A levels, but going back and taking your a levels is harder.
But you have one life live it!! Do what your heart tells you until the brain takes over

you could do a degree in horses and by the end of it you will have decided if you want to persue horses or do something else. i was convinced in my first year what ever i did it was going to horsey. by my second year. i missed my own horse. i had spent all day mucking out and riding other peoples horses that i was to tired to ride my own. i am going to keep it as my hobby, but i suppose it depends what you want to do. i wanted to be a veterinary nurse but didnt bother in the end. youl be suprised how much youl change your mind. its quite annoying. lol.

i dont want to change my mind :P
this has been all ive wanted since i was about 12, that or to be a pro sjer

i need funding :@
so im going to have to get a proper job

Nothing wrong with having a major ambition! Good for you.

At the end of the day it usually takes both talent AND money to make it as a top SJer (although we all know the odd case where pure luck and talent gets someone to the top)

So either you need someone elses money to get there eg sponsorship and/or patronage in the form of good horses.

Or you could make your own money and do it yourself. Then success will bring the other things like the sponsorship etc).

Boring I know

but its the surest way of achieving your goal.
