She is fundamently a Tb x with a 3/4Selle Fracais and a 1/4 Hanovarian.

He breeding seems to be totally ruled by her Selle Francais and her Tb and she looks like a selle Fracais.. Yet she is registered as a German WB?!

CONFUSED lol

Hi Nailed - as I understand it, most Warmblood breeds are not true breeds. With some exceptions, they are more of a "type" with certain "breed" standards. New blood from various sources is constantly being introduced to maintain or enhance desirable characteristics - some do now have a closed stud book which means that only those horses with both parents currently registered as being of that particular warmblood breed can be registered as such themselves. There are some which have been established breeds for some time though i.e have had a closed stud book

Understand all that.. but what amount of SF blood would surely make her French.. lol

Just Not used to having these horses with stupid breeding.. Im used to a good old simple TB blood lines.

I know - it always strikes me as being odd! I suppose that what we need to remember is that most breeds started out this way - lots of different types being cross bred until a breed standard was established and then, once breed societies had been established a restriction could be placed on which horses/ponies could be allowed to be bred to each other to get accepted offspring. I'm sure that in time all of these various warmblood breeds will have closed studbooks as some do already (I think that Trakheners are a definite breed). I think that the studbook for which a horse can qualify is also governed by where it is bred e.g a Belgian Warmblood crossed with a German warmblood but born in Holland will be registered as a Dutch warmblood! Someone may want to correct me on this though!!

Warmbloods/Sports horses/performance horses are by definition crossbreds. I think most just get registered with the performance horse society of whatever country they're bred in.

My boy is 3/4 Irish Sports Horse and 1/4 Hanoverian, he's registered as an ISH

He has SF in his blood lines as well.
