Would you be put off buying one that has had it done? Friend has seen something nice that seems to tick her boxes, but seller has disclosed this. Price is very reasonable by comparison to the current market. I don’t know enough to advise one way or another.

I went to view one who'd had a successful op. It ended his racing career and he went to a professional eventer but they thought he wouldnt stand up to high level eventing but would be perfect for an amateur home. I stupidly didnt buy him choosing something unsuitable instead and i kick myself for it now as he's turned out to be an absolute superstar.

So long winded (boom boom) answer ... but no, it wouldn't put me off :)

My first horse I bought as an adult 17.1 hh IDx had had the procedure when he was young at his breeders, he was my horse of a lifetime as it turned out, we competed BSJA to newcomers did ODE cross country which he loved and was great at, and had many years of fun, never caused him an issue, I always fed soaked hay but that was it, he was mute but I would see his nostrils moving in and out to whinny at me but there was no noise, lost him over 10 years later after an unsuccessful colic op at Newmarket for lipoma. It certainly wouldn’t put me off one bit,
