Just wondering what treatment other horses have received for this. How often was treatment needed? How long for improvement? How long we're able to compete and what discipline? How long stayed sound ? Any extra supplements ? Also anything else you wish to comment on.

Hi...my mare had it diagnosed many years ago and had two lots of steroid injections in to her hock joints. It worked briliantly for her and I rode her for another 3 years doing everything as normal - dressage/jumping/hacking. We were quite careful with bringing her back in to work but we are only talking a matter of weeks - long-reining, hacking and then back in to more work. She is an ex-racehorse so I was pretty expecting there to be some arthritis and to retire her at some point. We were really pleased how well it worked for her...this is not always the case apparently. She is now 24yrs old and been retired for 5 years...often I see her in the field and think she is pulling my leg!!! Ever since she was diagnosed we put her on Newmarket Joint Supplement..recommended by my vet and subsequently endorsed by an equine hospital where she was for something else.
Every case is different though and I would recommend close working with your vet on the best line of action for your horse. We managed her daily routine accordingly and had to discover what hindered and what she could cope with. I wish you luck and hope you get a successful outcome...
