Hock bandaging help

Vet Saw Sol last night and wants her hock bandaged for the next 10 days.

Bandaged it last night for me and left me to do it every 2 days

This morning she'd pulled the bandage off (well moving had made it slip so it wasn't any use!)

Has anyone got any tips/good ideas on how I can keep it on or I think i'll be changing the bandage twice a day

I use these on my horse every night, to keep her hocks warm (arthritis). They stay put really well, although I do use them with the same make of leg wraps, which stops them from slipping down. You could bandage her injury with vetwrap (do a figure 8 bandage over her hock), then put one of these over the top.

She's wearing a stocking (?) I can't think of another word for it! (Thankyou NHS

) and its being taped up with super strength micro-pore (given to me by the vet) but its still slipping

Ooooh! I didn't think of a hock boot as another way to cover it! I am starting to wonder how the hell they managed to keep it on her at the vets!

A word of warning with the pressage, they can rub at the top of the hock, Donks had one and we got a pressure sore so now she has a nice white patch of hair that has to be coloured in when she was showing

Donks also worked out how to take a pressage down to her fetlocks nearly as quickley as a bandage!

Ben had to have his hock bandaged daily for about 3 months

we bought a special wrap (called a hock sock) through the vet (think you can get them on ebay etc too - cost about £40 from vet) and that kept the bandages underneath in place.

At this stage you can't see the hock sock as he has another bandage over the top, but it is similar to the contraption he has on his knee.

Sol's got an area of soreness too that sounds similar (not sure what its from though!) luckily he hocks are white! She doesn't take kindly to me removing the micro-pore either (as the vets said , its like ripping off a giant plaster

figure of eight bandage - easy to do, won't slip, doesn't rub if put on properly.

and cheaper than specialist boots!

My boy had an injury in a very similar place and all I did was used some animalintex over the wound itself and then wraped it in vetwrap in a figure of eight fashion. start by wraping it around the leg just above the hock (you'll see a natural groove where it should sit) and then cross it diagonally over the front of the hock and back up the inside...

figure eight bandage with gamgee and vetwrap (not stable bandages) and then bandage down the leg which helps it stay on.

Oskar has a white patch too on the top of his hock from a pressure sore, i don't know how to prevent this when you need to keep a hock bandaged

I agree with PF, a disposable nappy is brilliant, comes ready with velcro attachments, stays in place, just bandage top and bottom
