Hock boots for arthritis

Hi my 8 year old was diagnosed with hock arthritis earlier this year and I’m looking to get him some hock boots to wear whilst he’s in. What brand to people recommend? Have people found the magnetic ones work or are ones that just keep the joint warm better?

I don't think they do much and some horses really hate anything on the hock, one of mine tried to kick the stable down when I tried some old travel boots on him to wear in the stable.

Also heat can make it worse I find any kind of extreme weather can make them look a bit stiffer.

Wouldn’t a boot hinder the movement? I have EVA mats in my stables and my mare with hock arthritis has no issues lying down on it.

Ive found just keeping the legs warm works. Stable bandages work the best for that, but I also magnetic stable chaps on my mare's hind legs. She gets stiff and filled legs otherwise.

I have bought the back on track hock boots but I haven't used them really as it wasn't very long ago and although it's been a very cold "summer", isn't completely winter temps. I did try them on him and he wasn't impressed but eventually got kind of used to them. I do know that warmth makes a huge difference for mine overall - he is far, far less stiff when it's warmer in general than when the temperature dips. Will be interesting to see how these work in the winter.

Yes I’ve seen good reviews for the back on rack ones. He’s only been diagnosed this spring so I’m not sure how he will be over winter

back on track ones worked well for my oldies when they have to be in. kraemer also do a cheaper ceramic version that had the same effect
