Morning.. what are peoples thought on turning out with hock boots on? Are there any available on the market for turnout? Is it something that can be done??

Just wondering really.. has been kicked a couple of times and always in the hock type area.. she wears turnout socks to protect her cannons etc (paranoid owner alert!!

there are hock boots but they can be a b!tch to fit and keep in the right place.
Don't get the all neoprene ones which fit the hock snuggly all over - these are rubbish, the ones that do work and stay up are the skeleton ones - so the ones which have a tighter leather strap that fits above the hock and has a leather pad which is moulded for the hock area, then a strap which fits loosely around the top of the cannon to stop if flapping, then some will have material surrounding the middle leather pad, some won't. However - these will tend to set you back about £50+, and they are hard to come by - i can't think off hand who stocks them....

and look at the Jeffries woollen knee boots, you want ones like these but the equivalent for the hock...
I've had both knee and hock boots of this sort, and used daily for riding of horse (was a policy on the yard) and they were all brilliant, when fitted correctly the never fell down or cause problems....

hope that helps
