Hock injury.... is this a thoroughpin?

Someone tied their gelding up right outside my mare's stable (whilst she was in) and this is the result of the ensuing squabble..... (Sadly I wasn't there at the time to intervene.)

After Danilon and DMSO treatment, this is where we are now:

Not being terribly familiar with hock oddities, I am wondering what the elongated bulbous lump on the upper innerside of her hock is? Is this a thoroughpin of olden days? Or something else? And what are people experiences of hocks that look like this after a month post injury? Will there be improvement?

Not sure what it is, maybe a capped hock that has not yet settled but it is not a thoroughpin.

Thanks. I'd always read that a thoroughpin could be pushed from one side to the other. This inner lump cant. That's what mystified me.

Vet hasn't been out to see the mare. She said there was little to be done except administer Danilon and apply the DMSO a couple of times a day to see if that helped (it hasn't).

Do capped hocks settle? And how long before I'll know the extent of the permanent blemish left?

If the horse has taken a knock or kick it can take a long while to settle completely and may always remain to some extent as scar tissue, which is often what a capped hock is, some will be full of fluid others just a thickened area around the point of hock.
My only worry from looking at the photo is that it could be something more serious such as ligament damage, I would send photos to your vet, or maybe someone else on here will have further ideas.

The swelling further in from the back of the hock is a thoroughpin, which is basically fluidy filling which will be trauma based all relevant, cold hose, shouldnt be a problem just unsightly. If swells bigger, bute, cold hose, rest, reduce heavy exercise until it settles.
