Sam100 - I don;t feed the feed balancers - all of my chaps are a bit metabolically sensitive and to feed balancers at the rate one needs to to provide the mineral intake they would explode! Anyway I have a pretty big downer on feed balancers - how can your feed be balanced unless you have done an analysis and plugged the gaps? A generic so called balancer uis unlikely to do that.
Anyway - if you read the ingredients of most of them it's not what I would feed to my horse - metabolically sensitive, laminitic or not!
Linseed - I use the Charnwood Mills version - £25 a sack - about two tea mugs a feed for the big chap.
And a spin off benefit is that I almost never groom. Hardly ever need to!
