Hello, I have a horse who has got a little hock sore on a hock that he previously injured and has a capped hock on. He’s been fine all year but at the weekend I put him in the barn and it’s highly likely he chose to lay outside on the concrete because he is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I cleaned it with hibi and then put on some derma gel. He has quite a big pellet bedding I was thinking of soaking a couple more bags and making it extra thick tonight. What else can I do to help. I am reluctant to find a hock boot as he developed a pressure sore and had bone damage on the inside of that hind leg from when he injured his hock from the vets bandages. It’s all healed now but I don’t imagine it’s the most tough tissue.

Thanks :D

I like Absorbine silver and honey spray for skin grazes etc. Cob is not a fan though, she objects to the spray hitting her leg. It’s fine so long as I don't try to spray her repeatedly though.

I resorted to using cotton travel boots for a while for the same reason. Bloody TB kept bashing it on the stable wall despite being in a huge stable with a deep bed
