Hi I also know a little about tendons and hocks! My mare, same one who now has locking stifle has previously damaged the tendon that runs over the point if her hock. It's the opposite leg to the stifle problem and it now gives her very little problems. She damaged it in the field and was initially extremely lame. The vet first thought she had broken her leg but upon X-ray couldn't find a break. It turns out she had ripped the tendon off the hock and the tendon was flicking on and off the point of the hock. She ended up in the vet hospital heavily bandaged for a few weeks then had a few more weeks box rest at home then 3 months in a tennis court sized paddock all while she was heavily pregnant. Her tendon did settle to a new position running down the outside of her hock and now doesn't seem to give her any problems tho her hock does look different to the other one.
