would think its more likely to be the stifle joint but since they act together will appear as either.

Do you mean upwardly fixating patella - i.e. locking stifle? This is where the hind leg locks straight out behind?

im not sure about common but i have an ex racer and dso does my firend and both of them do it. they both event and have no problems.

Thats why I was asking, my friend was talking about loaning a 12y.o novice horse (about 5 points) and when in the stable and she moves, her hock sort of locks but I understood it was common anyway - is it a major issue? She's an ex hurdler.
