Hog or not? I hogged!

It was very scary, I had a panic attack halfway through where I laughed hysterically for 5 minutes, but I'm very glad I did it. He looks fab! Thanks to all those who commented on my previous post, you gave me the guts to do it

This is when the shock set in (I am aware that sitting on the floor next to a barely tied up horse is not very BHS ) I look like I'm about to spew here but look how impressed he is :/

He looks a bit fat here but he's not, I swear!

I'll have to start working him even harder now to build up his crest some more

The only thing I haven't done is pull his tail as I've not done it before - what's the best way and are there any videos on youtube or similar I could watch to get some tips?

Thanks all, he does look smart. I think they either have to be super hairy like your, Vanner, or hogged. In between doesn't always work.

If his tail is anything like my boys you may be better off using a stripping knife. I use a Mars one designed for stripping dogs coats. It works really well and gives a great finish. Use it gently though to start in case he objects! Watch this for tips.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that later. He is a bit funny about his tail and the top of his head. You should have seen the state of him when I tried to take his forelock off - he ended up with it stuck to his head by a little bit of hair! I can do anything else with him so I am a little cautious about pulling it too much in case it makes him worse.

ha ha....what a transformation...I am not a fan of hogging (my sis horse looked smart hogged as she had wispy mane) but he looks very professional type now!

Don't feel sorry for him - he lives in the lap of luxury (by which I mean a field) and only has to work an hour or so a day He's a very warm horse and gets very itchy due to that so I'm hoping he'll be a little cooler now. Can't wait to take him hunting proper and put his tail up, he'll look awesome!

He looks REALLY smart! He's def a horse that can pull off both looks though, so when you've got fed up of all the clipping and believe me it is hard work you can always let it all grow again

Thanks everyone I may have a bash at showing him clipped and trimmed, I'm so pleased with it, to see how he does. It'll be a lot easier to get him clean like this, Million, so I may leave him as a show cob for many years!
