Can anyone point me towards any pictures / video of Hoggar Mail? The pictures on the (very enjoyable) Brullemail website aren't too helpful. I'm interested in him because of his relationship to Jaguar and the posibility of him as both a cheaper & a more appropriate alternative to put to a TB, but he looks like a rather different stamp of horse.

Think I probably should; however my French is abysmal, and it seems a bit rude to just write in English & expect them to understand it (even though they have more chance of understanding that than my French).

I tried one of those translation programmes, but horse breeding seems a bit too specialised for them; I tried it out on French to English first, and got some strange results; the stud seemed to be offering people the chance to "cantilever the stallions for insertion"...

Thanks, Ciss & Meandmyself.

I'm afraid their English can hardly be worse than my French

Its just that some much info exists on the net (including videos) for Jaguar Mail (whom I really like) that I just hoped some would be out there for Hoggar Mail, that I hadn't yet managed to find.

I have found something now about a DVD so I will write & enquire about that, & hope they just regard me as pathetic & insular rather than deliberately rude...

Hoggar is, what, half TB, & Jaguar threequarters? I'm looking to breed my "TB and a dash" as per the "breeding an eventer" post- So I was wondering if I would be watering the "dash" down too much by using Jaguar (supposing I can afford him and can get to use him) on a TB mare and whether the related stallion would be more appropriate.

Jaguar Mail's athleticism & fluency in the videos was rather gobsmacking. My other mare should be going to a local TB stallion whom I rate highly but who won't be too dear, so perhaps I can splash out a bit on the young mare....

Hey, good idea!
Thanks!
Though I do feel a bit vulnerable here... Thinking of someone I met who had worked as an instructor in a posh riding school abroad with very limited knowledge of the language, and discovered after some months that the phrase for "Class Dismiss" that a helpful student had given her was actually "Class F*ck off"...

Thanks volatis. That would certainly help with the language probs!
I've never used semen from abroad before; is it better generally to go via an agent or direct to the stud? Presumably its easie to go to an agent, but do you tend to get different terms & conditions, or is there usually a big cost penalty?

I go directly to the stud if I know they speak English! Generally it is a little more expensive to go through an agent however they shuld be able to deal with all your queries and know the system well so might be worth it.

Hi

This is Ken Rehill. If you want details of Hoggar then drop me a line at info@frenchstallion.org

There has been interest in Hoggar in the UK, thus I'll be sending over doses to be stocked at Twemlows in 2008.

The price of both Jaguar and Hoggar is set by the owner, we charge exactly what the owner charges and do not add anything, so you're paying the same price as if you went direct to the owner, who would actually just point you in my direction anyway.

Hoggar is a super stallion who whilst related to Jaguar, is very very different.

If you need any help let me know

Ken
