I like a lovely long flowing mane and feathers, you can always put in a running plait, which gives you something to grab when they get more air than expected!
I prefer hairy cobs, I have one with a long mane and my other cob looks better with her mane pulled. I leave their feathers on and they live out 24/7, never had a problem with mud fever.
voted don't mind, I have a cob but she is not hairy and IMO looks stunning hogged.
A friend of mine shows very hairy cobs and they too look stunning, so depends on the horse, neck and quality of the head..
i dont have a cobaflob but i love to see them natural, but i wouldnt like to be the one maintaining the hairy beast! depends on the horse also, some suit hogged and trimmed
I don't have a cob, but if I did then I think I'd prefer them hogged & trimmed, purely because I think it looks smarter (and would be easier to maintain!)
I'm another that thinks it depends on the horse. Some 'before and after' pics are amazing when all the ahir and fuzz is gone.
I have to say, (not that I'm biased at all) - I've had my girly both ways and she looks fab both ways.
I love to see long locks, but not on mine! I also thing it depends on the sort & also what they do - mine (sjing & pc) I prefer clipped with a pulled mane. Looks very smart plaited up too
My girl was always hogged and trimmed as I showed her in Ridden Cob classes. Now she is a hairy Mary, living out 24/7, but in the summer the feathers come off, mane is pulled and beard is gone.
Annielusian, that Trad cob is stunning! Wow! What a mane!!
Think you might have changed my mind in the hogged vs hairy debate!
I was going to say that I have never seen a hogged that I thought looked really nice, but there really are some stunning hairys around, but yours looks lovely both ways!
All that hair is there for protection, if you take it off, what does the horse do about flies, sun etc in Summer, or mud & cold in winter? And all because of the owner's vanity.
if it's hairy it's got to be the real deal and full on flowing other than that hog it i don't like a pulled mane on a cob generally, it just never seems to sit right
