Lol I only have photos from the other direction, as mine was hogged but welshie!

:-o Has it grown back ok? I read someone saying that it can grow back softer and nicer, not sure how true that is.

Definitely hog. Don't leave the forelock, that would be all wrong, whip the lot off!

It's all coming off... to be honest her forelock is the worst bit. So fluffy but also wirey and so greasy even if I manage to wash it.

Here's a nicer one of my after :)

Gorgeous! I think I'm a chunky convert these days... was always a thoroughbred or Arab person but since we got The Beast she's winning me over. (It was husband who fell in love and insisted we buy her... He was right about that too. A worrying trend emerges.)

She will look delicious hogged. Here is my other one. Unfortunately she is hairy just now as I've just sold her. This is a year's growth since she was last hogged and clipped out.

grew back fine, probably took a year though, I didn't take progress pics but know he was last done in the march, and that summer it really wasn't showable! I left it long for a few years, it's been pulled short for plaiting and now just trimmed for showing. It's quite wirey but suspect it was always, forelock is fluffy!

He has a fair amount of it, so it was always better for plaiting pulled properly.

To start.. frankly the hog was the least of the issues!

then we had this

then I asked hho and this happened

then hho said it had to go shorter

It hangs better somwhere in the middle though and then at least when the top half splits you can brush it over and it will stay.

Yes. Lots of lovely pics. He's gorgeous. Has a certain charm hogged but looks much better now. I do like a nice tidy pulled mane, but they have to at least tolerate. I'm not able to just make them 'ave it if they aren't chill about it.

I hogged mine because everytime he got too hot and sweaty under his mane he got a skin infection
Three years of being hogged and he has no necks on in winter and he hasnt had one infection.

She has nice big ears so will look good hogged.

I fell in love with him hogged but nice to get it back.

That series also demonstrates his demeanor quite well. He was a bit wired to start! In all the other pics he is asleep!

Very nice hogged! Much easier to keep clean too when they are white!

Ok... we've done it. Well started. It still needs clipping but want to wash the grease out before using the clippers on it. But even roughly done with scissors it looks amazeballs.

Just realised I've got over excited and am replying on my phone and can't do pictures on my phone... Will do pictures asap. Thanks for the encouragement... She looks so good I couldn't stop looking at her!

Ok BEFORE: (look at the state of it, not that long since I tidied it up either)

I'm not going to lie I am a little bit sad that the mane has gone because I love a good mane! Whether it's a full native mane or a neatly pulled mane I much prefer them. But yours does look good without!

She looks fantastic

Thank you! I thought so, she's been hiding suck a pretty forehead and big ears in her thatch!

I pretty much prefer a mane too but hers was unmanageable either as a completely natural mane (too hot and caught on tack which she HATED) or pulled (just, argh, impossible and would not have made nice plaits). I have resisted and resisted hogging but now we're in process I'm very, very happy with how it's going to look!

Nice... did you go the whole hog or left it midway?

It took me this long to understand the question... sorry. Have left it midway for now until it has been washed. To avoid clogging the clippers blades with grease! Sorry, didn't get what you were asking at first response!

Aw he's lovely emfen. And yes much more grown up with a hog. I suddenly feel like Ive got a 'proper' horse. Went out hacking and I'm sure the traffic behaved better due to her looking more like a police horse! Lol

I washed her mane today... Hopefully we'll get the whole hog tomorrow.
