If you have a cob with a hogged mane, how often do you re-clip it?also, how long before a show do you aim to run the clippers up?and ....what about feathers?the same?or scissors and comb.
For showing the day before and I always use my cordless clippers and cordless trimmers for the under the chin, ears etc spots.......but at the mo my cob is full maned and looks like the hairy monster and has god knows what growing in his hairy bits!
Legs and mane-the day before. I use clippers with a finer blade. I have hogged my horse 2-4 days before a show before so you have a tiny it of regrowth as it just gave an overall better impression of his neck at the time.
I hogged Chex in the summer for sweetitch - it was supposed to be temporary but half of it never grew back
. I only re clip it every 3 months or so, but I don't show. I do his feathers every month or so, but its more for mud fever than appearance. I do them about a week before a show (when I used to show) incase I accidently cut them squint or too short!
Hogging, about every 3 weeks - I prefer not to do it just before a show as it looks a bit too sharp then.
Legs- believe it or not, my show cob is not very hairy! He has silky leg hair and I trim it once a month maybe.
I tidy his tail (it's pulled) weekly in the show season, usually the day before the show as he's grey and the regrowth shows otherwise.
