Supercoblet, please post a pic if you do it, my cob is v similar to yours and I am toying with the idea of hogging. I will let yours be the guinea pig !
When I worked in america every foal from a few weeks up to a year and a half and every broodmare were hogged.
However we left the bit on top of the withers and the forelock alone.
It looks a bit odd at first but now i kind of like it.
The bit on the withers os to hold on to whilst riding in from the field bareback, and the bit on the forelock is for flies. I have been told its to lead a horse with if you dont have a headcollar. Dont know about that bit though!
