Holding tail to the side?

Was at a show this weekend and was watching the ridden showing classes. There was one horse that worked with its tail always held to the left.

Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on possible reasons why? :confused:
 
No idea but my youngster does this. I had the physio check him over and he said there was absolutely nothing wrong or going on with his back/pelvis or anything. It's just one of those things it would seem!
 
Recently told by a vet that holding the tail to the side doesnt necessarily mean anything in particular. Had always thought it meant back problems but guess not always.
 
My boy does this, had 3 different physios check him and none found anything wrong.

Have recently found out its a trait with his breed so has put my mind at rest
 
mine does this and was doing it at his vetting. vet thought there was nothing wrong with him to cause it and that it may have been squished at birth/in the womb.
 
Thought you may be interested to know Paddy began doing this just before his Sacroilliac problem was diagnosed.......and he still does it now. Vet said he is left with permanent nerve damage. :(
 
I had an arab cross mare that held her tail up and to one side
I owned her from age 6 she never had a back problem never lame in her life ride and drive and she worked until she was 30 then retired because I didn't have time to ride her regularly with 3 young horses to 'do'
She was put down aged 36 when a slip in the field broke her shoulder.
 
A pony that briefly came to my yard did this and only when ridden. I don't think anyone got to the bottom of it and he went as fast as he came! Lovely on the ground, but a devil to ride. I wonder if it was some sort of back pain :(
