I am going on holiday soon for 2 weeks, and trying to arrange care for my horse, he to will be having a 2 week break.

How much would you pay for a 15 year old to muck out the stable each day , prepare evening and breakfast feed, top up water etc. There will be no bringing in or letting out as someone else will do that , its just sorting out his bed every day for the two weeks. She is a friends daughter and works at the livery yard at the weekends anyway, I really don't know.

ideas gratefully received.

I pay a tenner a day!

i pay £6 for the evening--muck out, bring in and feed.am is included in my livery.
if it is for a 15 year old, and all she is doing is mucking out and prep feed -i would say £5 a day would be a good rate of pay.if you break it down to an hourly rate--mucking out only takes half an hour, feed 5 mins, less than an hours work really.

its not just a case of mucking out a stable though is it ?
the young girl will have to get to and from yard.
and be completly tied down to your horse no matter how little time it may take !!!!!!
id say £8/10 a day.

I was thinking along the lines of £5 per day, the girl in question is happy to do it full stop, we both live about a 5 mins walk if that from the yard so no really travelling expense to accomodate.

I have said that as long as the stable is mucked out before he is bought in about 5 o clock time ,when she chooses to do it is up to her. So being realistic from leaving her house, mucking out , preparing food and getting back to her house would take about 45 mins.So no I don't think she will be completely tied down at all. She will more than likely be up there anyway helping the YO, this is an extra for her as I would rather pay her than the YO, and everyone is happy about this.

I'd have thought £5/day too. If she's not committed to going up morning and night to let out and get in, and doesn't have travel far.

I pay £10/day/horse when someone has to go up twice a day and do everything.

Our big holiday is normally in the winter. My girl lives out and I pay my friend (who has his horse at the same yard so no travel expenses) £10 a day to poo pick field, check water, feed, do hay nets and change rugs all twice a day. He brings her in and gives her a brush every other day as well so I would say £5-£7 a day, depending on how generous you feel or what you can afford. I'm sure she will be grateful for anything you give her.

Do you know how much YO pays her an hour??
