I'm hopefully going on holiday early next year and I was looking at possibly paying someone to come in and do the horses. It would be a daily visit, mainly to do the mucking out, sweeping up, prepping haynets of the 3 that will be stabled and haying and checking the 2 living out (My dad would do the evening bring in/feed and checking of the ones living out).

How much do people pay for this kind of thing and I guess it's worked out per hour? It's all a bit new to me, when I've helped people out it's always been FOC and back when we had family holidays we used to pay one of the girls from the village £100 for the two weeks. But times have changed and she's all grown up now. I assume the going rate is a bit different these days and I'll have to make sure they are fully insured and get references.

The going rate, around here anyway, is £10 an hour with a minimum £10 fee.
IE if the visit took less than an hour you would still pay the £10.
Depending on location there may be a travel fee.
You may be able to strike up a deal for a lump sum for the full holiday.

Word of mouth is a good way of riding some one reliable.

Good luck.
