Do you think there is a market for holiday livery, ie a mobile livery service where i go to the horse owners yard/home and look after their horses (and other pets) while they are away on holiday/business etc? I've just set up as self employed Instructor but am thinking of also doing this. What does everyone think, or do most people just get friends to do it?

Yes there is but you need very good references, there are a few people who do it in the Swansea area but they tend to be booked up weeks in advance

Yes, I think there would be a good market there but its probably one of those businesses that would build on reputation. Start advertising locally in tack/feed merchants, RC newsletters, free-ads etc and see what sort of response you get. The very best of luck to you.

There is definitely a market. My friend does it for a living and dogwalks as well!!! She only does local people because she has her own yard and needs to get back daily but seems to do ok. Shes not making megabucks but has a much more stressfree life than I do!!!

All her business comes through word of mouth. Therefore she has to be 100% reliable.

Absolutley definitely!! I have managed to find a wonderful housesitter who is hardly ever at home 'cos she's always housesitting for someone. She does horses, dogs, cats whatever. She is fully insured and you have to sign a contract with what you have agreed, all very professional. Don't know what I would do without her and really struggle if she is already booked up when we want to go away.
