Some dawgees from the good ole You Ess of Ay!

Was able to go visit a Schutzhund club and watch some training being done, there was a snow storm so missed the obedience but really liked their barn, complete with pool table and bar!

Doing some foundation work with youngsters

And some Black Russian Terriers doing table work because the weather was so bad outside!
The docked one is a female, the full tail is a male, they are both also show dogs :)

My host's yellow lab, who has come on a great many hikes with me over the years :)

Our friends' tripod harlequin Great Dane, seven years old and still going strong - I would always caution against three-legged large breed dogs but she does really well!

This is a dog I watched chasing a ball on Uni campus and when I heard his owners speaking German to him I charged over to say hi :p
Both his parents were imported from West Germany and he is a lovely type, but apparently people always come up to her and say he isn't a proper GSD because he is too small *sigh**
He has just started tracking training :)

And of course, in America, must take random shots of dogs in pick - ups :)

Good to see they have some decent working type sheps over there, although can imagine they would look strange against some of the show stock. Love the quizzical expression in that very first picture.

Mr. Too Small is quite gorgeous!

I am utterly jealous of your holiday and its included doggy elements. And to add insult to injury I feel a little short changed on the pics. More please if you get time! :p

Looks like you having a blast!!!

How many dogs have you seen loose in the back of pick-ups?

Unfortunately i have seen no less than 10 in my time here fall out. Craziness.

So when are you coming to visit me? I need some more bisto!

Looks like you had a great holiday and taken some lovely pics.

The one of the Russian Terrier I thought was a Giant Schnauzer.

It may pain you to know whilst you were away we had the best summer we have ever had.:D

Thanks guys. Having a bit of time-zone-hopping-induced madness at the mo :o

I got the impression from all the FB posts that it was a tad sunny :p

You would see a lot more working types walking down the street here than either German or American (phew :p) showlines compared to here, and the big, tall, blocky, fancy-coloured pet types, but sadly, that means quite a lot of pretty good, pretty impressively bred dogs by our standards ending up in rescue because they are a bit hotter/harder to entertain/keep busy than your average shep.

KL, not one dog secured in the back of a pick up, I actually did have a nightmare about it. Hoping to reach your side of the country later in the year :)
