home made anti chew recipes please!

my bought stuff cost a fortune and won't last ten seconds so recommended recipes hugely appreciated!
whilst we have attached various anti chew protectors to the horse barn, have allowed a few sacrificial rails and are electric fencing off post and rail i would like to be able to slop something on instantly at times.
so tried and tested formulas please!!

we use a soloution of the ponies own poo & water, has worked a treat on all of my little buggers & its cheap

ok, i like the economics of this recipe, and the readiness of the ingredients...but....not sure about slopping poo-ey water all over the stables, doors etc. i know the hosses do a pretty good job of this themselves , but they are chewing the tops of doors, stables walls, etc where i often put coats, rugs, my hands, etc.

so as a last resort and for some places i'll give it a go, but still hoping for some less poo-ey suggestions!

it dries really quickly & then doesnt transfur to stuff, mind you it really does stink when you are applying it.

worth trying cheap nasty foul tasting hairspray - i've found it to work very well on rugs but not too sure how well it soaks into/ lasts on woodwork...
