For the last few years I've made my own but my new boy is so sensitive and has a few patches of scabby skin where the spray bottle broke and I had to put it on with a sponge

Do you think it was the detol? should I swap detol for cold tea?? Or was it just that I used a sponge to put it on?

He's dark bay so tea or anything like that won't be a problem!

Give the cold tea a go - make a small quantity substituting the dettol and do a patch test. Could easily be the dettol if he is very sensitive

He was ok with the detol but I thikn sponging it on was the wrong thing to do - poor sod!

Will defo give the tea a go x

We have always used Metholated spirits instead of Detol but also add a lot of cold black tea for volumn along with Citronella oil, fairy liquid and Vinegar too. Its a recipe my husband hands out to his horse clients!. I get the Meths from our Vet surgery but you can buy off the shelf at the chemist.

dont use detol or any kind of sprints coz the body will soak that in and it could cause a lot of skin problems coz on the back of those bottles it says keep out of direct sun light it might burn your horse! if your horse is grey use distiled white vinger in stead of malt be carefuuly of missing essiental oils as well to many or wrong mixes will damage the horse al ways do a skin test first! the reason i know this is my friend is a beautican and when she was not qualified she did a wrong mx and that melted a plastic cup!
