I liked the idea of a hay cube but didn't want to spend £129, especially as I'd need one in soak and one in the stable, as I only go up once a day. So I decided to make one using a 72 litre wheeled container, a big drill bit, a rubber bung, some string, metal rings and a spare leg strap!
All the bits
I drilled the hole in the bottom then plugged it with the bung from the outside. Filled it with hay, stuck the hpose in and weighed it down with an old plastic lid from a storage box.
An elastic leg strap will hold it in place
Holes drilled in the top, with string and a bit of plastic tubing to protect my hands, make the handle.
All in place.
It drains really quickly and is much easier than lugging heavy wet haynets, I'm pretty pleased. Plus the box and bung only came to £50!
