I've got some human conditioner that doesn't suit my hair (it's Mane 'n' Tail herbal) can I use it to make a spray for the horses? Angel has such a lot of mane and it is currently mud coloured, I can't wash it so have just been spraying it with Carr and Day and Martin Mane & Tail Conditioner and brushing the tangles out. If I mix the human conditioner with water will it do the same thing or will it go sticky and manky after a few days?

With my previous Sec D mare, who had one heck of a tail, my mum used to give me her left over conditioner (she has short hair). I used to just work it through and get the knots out, then turn her out, the rain did the rinsing! Made brushing so much easier, and her hair was in better nick than mine!

Yes definitely - I use a metal funnel to mix up imprecise (!) amounts of coconut human hair conditioner, a bit of cider vinegar, and some fractionated coconut oil (cheap on eBay), then top up with water and shake it up to mix in the spray bottle. It makes a great mane and tail conditioner and when you work out the cost per bottle it's very cheap.

Urrrmmm, never really measured it. I use a 500ml spray bottle, probably about half conditioner, 1/4 to 1/3 of a small bottle of baby oil topped up with water. To be honest I just squirt it in and shake!

Yep, I’ve always done this, a blob of hair conditioner, top up with water, shake and that’s it! I’ve never known it to turn sticky.
