So i'm still on the quest of whitening my horse :D i'm proud to say that body, neck, face, legs and mane are now white and will just need a final wash before the show on sunday. Now i'm still stuck with a yellow tail even though i have washed it with a showman whitening shampoo and washed it with fairy liquid many many times. does anyone have a good cheap way of making a yellow tail white?
thanks!

dissolve a few Steradent tablets in a bucket of warm water and dunk the tail in it for a few minutes. Then wash with any purple shampoo and warm water. Warm water is paramount.

Persil tablets (or I guess any washing tablets) in warm water, let tail soak in it for a few mins, giving it a good swish around, then rinse thorughly. We try and avoid getting it on the dock just in case.

Not very PC but we have never had any issues with it and it always got the greys tail lovely and white!

thanks! does anyone know if chalk might work??? i was just thinking and i either thought of a brill idea or a really stupid one, put some chalk powder in a tail bag and put the tail in it, mix it up and leave it for the night? im just not sure if it'll work...

I have the same problem with my man's hocks & tail! someone on here suggested a last minute cover up with a white hairspray from boots. It works a treat, as long as they don't mind aerosols!!! xx

Hibriscrub is meant to be really good at removing stains.

Ditto above for persil and vanish.

Chalk or cornflower also helps whiten. The cornflower can be made into a paste for legs and left on overnight underbandages and brushed off in the morning.

Another tip is to use lots of shine spray or a quick spray of mr.sheen on the body (not sure about the tail) but the silicone in the product stops stains from ''sticking''.
