Has anyone got any?
Had one that used citronella, vinegar, washing up liquid and tea but have lost the list!
I need something I can really water down as I have to drench him in it as he hates the spray bottle (no matter how much desensitization I do).
Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks
Jo

I used the ingredients you mentioned...used 6 tea bags in a litre of water, added the vinegar, squirt of baby oil, plus citronella(10 ml) and tea tree oil(5 ml)...once that had gone cold topped it up to 2 litres with cold water and that was it!
Horses hate me mind for having to put it on them.....

If you follow Sleeping dragons recipe, just be aware that if you spray it on a grey - they go an interesting colour! I sprayed it on my horse at Notts County last year - I nearlly died!

Her recipe does work quite well though....

Yes, that's the only downfall!

Anyone know of anything that works on a grey without sending them various shades of tea stained brown?

Id be mindful of using baby oil especially in the heat it could burn their skin. I have always used 500ml white wine vinegar, 500ml dettol and 1 to 2 cap fulls of citronella. It doesnt stop the flys buzzing around them but stops them actually bitting them.

ooh yours sounds good but no white wine is for guzzeling esp in summer!!
i do dettol & water but the field mines in is surrounded by a moat!! and the horse flys are...well the size of a shetland pony.
hate those fly rugs though!!

For greys and coloured horses try chamomile tea - it is much paler in colour as well as being soothing for the skin. I also dyed my horse orange using normal tea. I use chamomile tea as a base with white wine vinegar and a little hypoallergenic horse shampoo (i have heard people with sensitive skinned horses using baby shampoo), citronella (5ml per litre) and a few drops each of tea tree, eucalyptus, lavender. I then add a bit of olive or sunflower oil.
