Fed up of spending a fortune on fly sprays which don't last very long....Off shopping later so can load up on ingredients!

Any tried and tested formulas would be greatly appreciated :D

I buy pure oils

Eucaplytus
Citronella

Put 10 drops of each into cold tea mix and half cap of Dettol, seems to work!

Just last night, someone was saying they used to mix their own in cold tea, but with vinegar instead of Dettol. They couldn't remember the ratios. I've never seen any shop-bought ones that work, and would be interested to try my own. How much cold tea mix do you use? And where do you buy the oils from? Somewhere like Holland and Barrett?

I have spent a fortune on fly sprays, homemade and bought. have two very sensitive skinned chestnuts. Rode at the weekend at a ride and tried Phazer gel and spray. Hardly any flies around us when other horses were being swarmed. Hands up for Phazer :)

Yes I have heard the cold tea and Dettol mix is worth trying.... What is the ml of cold tea mix required?

Follys mum I think I used a gel version of phaser fly spray years ago... I remember it being fairly good, perhaps I will need to look that up again if the home made stuff fails!
