So we have recently acquired the sweetest little 9 month old filly. She's Welsh x ISH and is about 13.2hh now. Anyway she is very busy in the stable (which is to be expected for her age) and am wondering if there is anyone on here that has experienced horse toys like likits or whether it would be better off making some homemade toys/entertainment distractions. Also if we go down the shop bought route, which brand seems to last the longest? Am going to try a swede loose tomorrow but not sure how long that will last. These horses are so much work lol :D Thanks for reading

My horse loves swedes! I just throw a whole one in his stable. I have used lickits before but he literally gets his jaw around them and destroys them in a few seconds, unless its the jimmy ones made out of seeds. I have used a ball that hangs from the roof (again with seeds and things in so was rock hard). His favourite thing ever though is his snack a ball. I put his balancer in there at night.

hide carrots/swedes/celery etc in their haynets ... drill holes in the middle of fruit and vegetables and hang them around the stable at differing heights from twine ... give her a football to chase around ... pop a favourite fruit/vegetable in her water bucket for her to bob for ... Mineral/salt lick.

I would never buy a likit type thing just because of the sugar content I believe - rightly or wrongly, possibly both - is in them. And besides, you can create much better boredom busters on your own without spending so much of the pennies. :D
