I've had me new neddy a month and he loves to go out for a hack, on the way out he has a lovely stride and can hardly walk any faster than he does, he really enjoys it. Unfortunately we are in the middle of nowhere and there are very few round trips unless we want to go out for 3 1/2 hours. So we often have to go so far and then turn round, any other horse I know would welcome this but he says, "no mummy, I want to go on pleeeeease lets not go back" and I have to give him a bit of leg to get him going again, after about 100yds he comes to terms with the fact we're going home but the spring in his step has gone.
Does he not like living with us and his new friends? Does anyone else have the same happen?
He's such a love I hope he's happy

He probably just likes hacking.

I rode a Part Bred Arab for a friend for a while and he used to sulk if the half way point on any ride was less than an hour into it.

Most horses will bring you home by the sortest route if you are lost, I am sure this one would have taken you home by an interesting roundabout route!

Perhaps he's just used to looong hacks! I'm sure he'll settle shortly once he gets used to the new routine. Alternatively, you could try your hand at distance riding

I had a pony for my kids about 6/7 years ago.... and he hated turning round.... I thought the same thing.... that he didnt like us, but in reality he just really enjoyed his work
