honest opinions on this horse please...

I think she over priced TBH.
That said maybe some really good photos and competition experience at local shows might help?

Firstly it's a chestnut mare. it's been XC schooling? Does this mean it's not actually done any XC It's a lot of money for a 15h.h. that's not done anything. Every horse has potential but I think it's would probably be better priced around £2500. max. Sorry but this is only my opinion.

She's a lot of money for a horse with potential! Potential what??

The ad is not worded that well, and the only picture isn't very good.
I'm sure she's a lovely mare, but the ad doesn't sell her

The picture isn't flattering and is unclear, also the advert is very unclear, been XC schooling (but was she any good!) and what sphere does she have potential in SJ/XC

Personally i dont like chestnut mares! i havent seen the horse for about a year, so i couldnt really comment on what she is like now, we just didnt get on!

15hh is not really a popular size to be honest and at four she is a bit on the expensive side for an ordinary non specifically bred horse.

Also as stated previously the pic and description dont really sell her or say look at me!!

firstly, her being a chestnut mare would not put me off, but with the market being the way it is at the mo, it is definatley a buyers market because people are nervous about taking on expensive comittments. Thus being she is overpriced by quite a long way, it's also a really unflattering photo, she looks really overbent and uninterested.

Dreadful picture...and the price is bit steep, IMO.

When they are babies, its nice to be able to see them moving, so a little vid might be a good idea..

I would agree with what has already been said, the picture is not great and the advert is badly worded. She mentions the horse has done XC schooling but then says she goes great on the flat which to me reads that she didn't do very well at XC. Considering this mare doesn't seem to have much experience at anything I would say she is overpriced. I also heard the other week that chestnut mares tend not to sell too well and are also pretty tricky to sell on, however having a red headed girly myself I don't really buy in to that idea!

I would definately change the picture in the advert and also perhaps lower the price a bit, hopefully that will bring in a few more calls

apart from all the above mentioned, 1 small detail that might put some people off is a landline phone number, i wont phone anything up unless there is a landline , or is that just me !

I think the phrase "would suit confident young rider" is a real turn off.

To me it sounds like the mare is difficult / sharp. And being a 'chesnut mare' that just compounds people's prejudices.

I'd rephrase along the lines of "suit experienced home to bring on further" or similar.

I'm not surprised she hasn't had much interest, I don't think that theres a lack of market, I think the advert is pants. I also think advertised correctly she could get £3250 happily.

The photo alone puts me straight off, if she doesn't have a decent one of her under the saddle then a good quailty comformation shoot would be brillant.

Ideally I'd wait till the advert has finish and totaly rethink the advert. In the mean time get some one up with a camara, make an effort, have her well turned out, white banages and sheepskin pads I swear sell horses! The rider too in cream jods and looking smart.

The wording does not sell her either, hers my example just with details of that advert. Your friends needs to decide whats her selling point, whos her market? I recently sold a horse this horse would of been suitable for quite few of them, mothers with teenage daughters wanting to by them a horse to do abit of everything competition wise but wanting to pay abit more for a horse of decent quailty but probs not experience enough to tell the different to be honest bar the price

Stunning Four Year Old Chesnut Mare. *Registered Name* has the protential to make a decent alround and the abilty to excel. She is currently working well on the flat, cross country schooling and fit and ready to compete. She has good mannors and 100% to catch, load, travel, clip, traffic, *whatever*. Name hacks alone and in company, shes has no vices. For sale due to family comitments. Complete with tack and rugs.

I think with a horse like this you have to look at what market you are aiming at, at 15hh you are looking at a small ladies/teenage ride who probably ride at riding/ponyclub level so would not have the experience to bring her on. She is to small for a competition horse for most people and her breeding isnt special for that either. So you are then looking at competant people who want a project at a much better price, and TBH if she was more experienced she wouldnt really be worth that. Finally she is a chesnut mare which narrows your market by 70% unfortunately, ( i love them!) she is in limbo really at the stage she is at.

Awful photo - overpriced.

What exactly is she selling.

Sounds like she's just plucked a number out of the air, and put her up for that.

Including the tack and rugs always hikes the price up - and I think is unneccesary. I would prefer to see an advert saying that these things were available by negotiation.

I own a chestnut mare and sorry I like her, and the look of your friends horse although the picture is not very clear - we can't see her little face very well

I would agree though too expensive for a 4 year old that has done so little - at the end of the day it is about what the buyer is looking for, and what they are prepared to pay- would your friend honestly give that much for that horse? I would have thought a month is quite a short time to advertise and if she is that keen to get rid of her I do wonder if there are other issues - not knowing the horse though one can only guess.

I don't think 15 hands is the issue at all. Patience, better photos and a reduction in price may get the sale!

thanks everyone for your input you brought up a few things i didnt notice.

she is a pretty sweet natured horse and deserves a good home, ill pass on all your comments and hopefully she will have a sale soon

thanks again!

way overpriced- I'd pay £2000 max for a horse that hasn't done anything in the way of shows, competing etc.
may have been xc schooling, but was she any good?
That pics quite poor- shes overbent. i like to see a standing pic (side on) a ridden pic and maybe a jumping pic.

'potential' could mean anything- potential to be an absolute sod?
