Honest opinions on this mare please?!

She looks very sweet. Theres a pony on my yard of the same breed and shes lovely, a real confidence giver and nevers seems to put a foot wrong. Only thing I would say would be maybe shes a little overpriced.

I agree she seems just what you need - there was a post on here earlier about writing a history for a horse if you are selling, that's what they've done here i think its great.

I'd ring them if i were you :)

A bit highly priced - and sorry I smell a rat - ad says haflinger, description says otherwise. Also, the english is pretty dodgy - and before anyone leaps on my case about that, I am more aware of it as the scam emails I have had the pleasure of recieving have always enjoyed an exceptionally poor level of english. Finally, ad says "fat". Haflingers seem to look considerably more rotund than this mare..

I'm confused. I will happily admit that my knowledge on breeds isn't great. But Strawberry roan hafflinger from Trait Du Nord all seems a bit of an odd combination to me. I love haffys but she doesn't look the right colour. She does look very sweet however, but if she is built/trained for driving she may need a bit of reschooling. But could be lovely. I reschooled a haffy that had been driven and there was nothing nasty about her, but she did need a bit of work in terms of transitions etc. All the best.

looks nice but overpriced for 2k that needs re-schooling

but if shes safe,,, then worth the 2k i suppose...?

She does sound really sweet but her history would worry me and I would want a thorough vetting as through their own admission she has had a hard life, also its possible that because of it there could be underlying issues. Although she sounds a great hack it is a very very green horse that still needs to 'learn the art of canter', and so it would worry me getting a novice horse for a novice. Overall for me it would probably be a no but might be worth a look.

ETA Mix up of breeds and weight would worriy me as well.

Are you sure this horse exists?
The photo looks photoshopped to me and either the pony is tiny or the box is ENORMOUS. They need to make up their minds, is it a Haflinger or a Trait du Nord? It doesn't actually look round enough to be either.
If it does exists it is wildly overpriced for a 10 yr old which doesn't know how to canter. And I can't bear ads that are written in the first person, as if by the horse. I would be interested to hear how you get on if you do take this further. Please be careful, make sure you actually see the horse, if you decide you are interested.

Thanks all for opinions, you all see things I don't!
Horse would obviously be thoroughly tried and 5* vetting as it's to be a horse for life.
The breeding did confuse me if I'm honest, but then have seen stranger things in ads!

The schooling wouldn't *really* be an issue as it's mainly hacking and should think friend is happy with reschooling horse in canter as she's confident in school and isn't a novice, just a bit nervy hacking! x

I'm absolutely sure I saw this ad months ago, same mix up re breed. How old is the ad? Funny looking Haffie. If it's an Ardennes, I'm an alien!

I can't believe anyone thinks that 2k for a safe hack is too much money! What planet are you stingey lot on?! How much do you think it costs to produce a safe horse? Upkeep, shoes, even the cost of importing a horse over? 2k is cheap for ANY horse, esp. if it does the job you want, be it hacking or a low level rc type. She has other strengths ie, driving job and a safe ride and drive will always be a good bet as they are normally sensible and good in traffic.
As for advert being wrong there isn't a button on horsemart for her breed, so they have picked closest thing to attract attention from people looking for that type. Simples!

I'm sorry, but I don't trust the ad at all! They can't make up their mind whether i is a Haflinger (which I don't, I don't think they come in strawberry roan but stand to be corrected!) or Ardennais. Also the way it is written seems to try and attract sympathy 'hard life in France' etc

It strikes me as a horse that may have been 'rescued'...if you catch my drift...

and tbh they are nicer looking (sorry OP i dont think its pretty...)....

not trying to put you off OP but i guess the reason you asked was for us lot to see things you dont.....

Yes my thoughts entirely regarding the price tag.

I value all opinons, I don't *do* buying horses on the whole!!

I understand about price tags and young cobs, but need something reliable, safe, not strong, as bombproof as can be, around 14hh and max of £2000 (absolute max £2500 with tack)

If anyone can find a matching horse feel free! :D xx

for 2k you would get something older and nicer.... bear with me :D

where you based or where can you get to to look??

Errrr if you can find these nice cheap young cobs for £1200 can you send a lorry load of them down to Surrey please? £1200 quid here buys you wild, unbroken and possibly dangerous and probably spoilt already. You won't be getting something with manners, nice conformation or any sort of future for that money.

where you looking lol....

i wont be spending any more than £1000 on a 3 year old cob type (coloured), i dont go for world beaters just a hapy hacker/potential RC horse...

Sounds like an unschooled horse to me. It may well turn out to be bombproof well schooled hack but certainly isn't that at the moment. Not a great choice for novice rider wanting steady eddie!
