Honest opinions on this mare please?!

^^^

ive seen his horse before - the owner used to be on here and quite a few other forums.

OP - the ad is annoyingly written, but the mare looks quite sweet and has better conformation than the cobs. not sure why the dales was suggested as not fit the OP's description. I agree the advertiser probably picked haffy because Ardennes isnt listed.

I saw at least go have a look.

Not sure what breed she is but she is not a Ardennes (Trait Du Nord) nor does she look like a Haflinger. But she is a family hack and is pretty, so I personally don't think she is overpriced. If she is indeed bombproof then she is worth her weight in gold.

Friend bought a super safe 14hh native type for her children, 7 years old for £750 at Easter this year. The mare is ride and drive and has not had a hard life. I would not buy one which has had a hard life as that may well take it's toll in later life, and also probably not picked up on vetting (not that I have ever had one vetted yet, in about 30 years!)

She is pretty in my opinion but I don't get how they have so many pictures of her just stood there. If the daughter could really stand on her back/ride bareback then they should evidence it with pictures.

I agree though, £2K is alot for her.

Don't mean to butt in here but for the people who say they don't intend/have never had one vetted..do you have insurance at all? Most decent insurance companies worth their salt insist on at least a two stage vetting.

Er I think that statement is a an exaggaration. I was with Stoneways when I had my WB and he wasn't vetted and was insured for £4,750 (a 2 stage was required to increase value). They were a very good insurance company who always paid out for vets fees quickly and I never had any quibbles when horse was referred to AHT for eye treatment either.

Most "decent insurance companies worth their salt" will ensure up to a certain value before they ask for a vetting
