honest opinions wanted - am I too big for the little pony?

From the pictures, he still looks as though he could grow up a bit - especially in the second one. I'd be tempted to wait a bit. I think that for breaking in and initially starting him off, you'd be fine. For regular riding you'd need to find him a smaller rider.

My stepson grew out of our 12.2 at 10yrs old and he was about 4'10" (and very lightweight). He fell off the pony more times than you would believe when he rode it because his centre of balance was not it line with the pony's. He was too tall, and therefore top heavy on the pony. It also did his riding no good as he was constantly gripping up with his legs because his knees were almost at the end of the pony's belly!

As for the 12h - 12 stone rule - thats ridiculous! Far too heavy for most 12h ponies!
