Honest opinons I'm too old and injured to ride seriously again?

It will be Autumn next year. No it based in the Pyrenees between France and Spain towards the northern coast. Near Jaca in Spain.

That time of years tenpretures will be variable probably still hot enough to need decent sunprotection but we could have some cool mornings, evenings or even a drop of rain.

I live and work in Spain so I know the climate pretty well.

Ah ok. I’d go for light weight stuff that will dry if you do get wet. Even in the UK at this time of year if it’s raining you aren’t cold on a horse as long as you’re moving along. So unless you really feel the cold I think less is more. As long as you’re well used to riding in the clothes you are going to to be wearing I think you’ll be fine.

Biggest mistake I made was adding a nice seat saver to my saddle the day of a 25km endurance ride. Ouch!

It looks fantastic. It sounds as though you're very fit anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about being "riding" fit - if you are finding you are getting saddle sore/stiff it sounds as though there will be times when you can jump off and walk/jog for a bit without it affecting anyone else in the group. Yes a bit of time in the saddle beforehand would be a good idea but you are not starting from zero - your running, cycling and swimming will mean you will find it easier than someone who only ever "sits" on a horse!
