They need to mind their own business!

We've been looking after a friend's Springer for the day - lovely dog and a great mate of Henry's, but they do egg each other on to naughtiness! So when we took them out we were quite cautious about having them off the lead, and called them back as soon as we saw anyone, or when the path was too narrow.

At one point we met a small group of people - I was talking to two of them and I could see my partner talking to another lady a little way on. I could only hear brief snatches - but afterwards found out that she'd taken it upon herself to lecture my partner about letting our dogs off the lead and 'giving them the freedom to choose to come back, because free dogs are happy'. Never mind that one of their dogs was old and fat, and she had the other one by the collar the whole time... Rude woman. Lucky I didn't hear at the time. Apparently she'd seen us earlier with them on the lead too, so had assumed they must not have been off at all (of course they had, but that would have involved her listening which appeared not to be her strong point:cool:).

Honestly! Silly woman:rolleyes:

Well, quite. Also, they may well not be able to 'choose' to come back if they wander off the country park, and into a snare on the adjoining estate:rolleyes:

The world is full of people who always know better . I very rarely let mine off lead walking in strange areas, I'd far rather keep the poor deprived darlings with me when I don't know what is round the next corner, and I am sure the rabbit and hare population are very grateful.:D

She'd have been wingeing about something else if I were to allow my 30kg bullbreed to charge up to her offlead................................

There is always someone who thinks they know your dog better than you do.

I would rather see a dog walked on a lead and under control than not walked at all or completely out of control and the owner not able recall it as it ate fat dog belonging to said lady.:p
