I have recently become less satisfied with the mollichaff calmer I usually feed and have been looking at other chaffs, I always thought honeychop was unmolassed, I read today that it isn't? My boys won't eat just plain chaff but I can't seem to find a flavoured one that isn't heavily molassed? Does anyone use honeychop? Do you rate it? How does it compare to the likes of mollichaff and other molassed chaffs?

Hi, my two horses love honeychop, and my old girl is fussy. I use the original yellow bag, however it has quite a high molasses content. I assume the flavoured are the same. I think a little more molassed than standard mollichaff,at least thats how it looks. They also do a plain oat straw, but its just that, plain nothing added at all. You could mix the two......

If you are looking for low molasses and flavoured i can recommened dengi hifi molasses free. I dont use this anymore as my mare cannot have soya, but they both ate it happily as it has added herbs. No good if you are avoiding alfalfa though.

Hope that was of some help

Honeychop didn't agree with my horse at all, the molasses sent him very silly very quickly!

I like Topspec's Top Chop Lite - mixed with alfalfa but has mint in it, so smells nice and is perhaps more appetising than others with no molasses.
