Does anyone here feed their dog with Honey's (formerly Darlings?)

I bought 2 weeks worth with view to starting my boy on it, but he doesn't like it at all. Was quite happy eating raw mince/veggies if i gave them to him, but there's something about the Honeys that he just objects to.

So, I have a freezer drawer full of the stuff that's just going to go to waste if I can't find a free-to-a-good-home for it. Does anyone want it? I'm in NW London if anyone would like it!

Could you not mix bits with "normal" raw mince and see if he'll eat it that way?

Yep, I tried that - he saw straight through it. I even tried going back on cooked food, and stewing the honeys meal up with lots of lovely "straight" mince and vegetables, but he saw straight through that, too! There must be something - a herb or whatever - in it that he really objects to.

No worries though - I think I've found someone for it now. A rescue dog who's in foster care - so good it'll go to a good, needy stomach. Just couldn't bear to think of having to just throw it out!

The price of it! I saw the BARF stall at Discover Dogs,a little bag of chicken backs...probably one meal for one of mine, never enquired the price..but made perfectly sure to tell their ever so keen salesman that I get 10 kgs of those for a fiver. That closed down his sales pitch somewhat.:D

Haha - yes, it's not the cheapest. I've been round the houses to find a feeding regime that would suit my sensitive stomached lurcher. Am now trying cooking for him myself, which seems to be doing the trick (hurrah!) and is cheaper than the Honeys diet (which was going to work out approx £85 / month or so for my boy.

Don't they offer a guarantee of satisfaction with it? Thought I read that in their little "how to feed raw" type guide and remembered it as it was such an unusual offer. Might be worth giving them a call.

Oh, yes, they do. They emailed me to follow up and see how it was going, and when i said he wouldn't eat it, they suggested the whole "leave the food down for 10 mins, if the dog doesn't eat it within that time then take it away", but i wasn't happy to do that. He's not a particularly fussy eater - he just has a sensitive tummy - so i didn't want to force feed him something he doesn't like.

I did like the company though - they gave lots of advice before and after i ordered, gave a really good service. It's just a shame their food didn't appeal to my young lurcher pal...
