Hoof 2 Heal - Mud Fever Remedy

I had heard Hoof2Heal/"hoof to heel" (not sure on the exact spelling) get recommended for mud fever. Apparently you can apply it topically once or twice a week withough needing to wash the legs in advance to stop mud fever getting worse. Does anyone know where I can buy it? I've been looking but can't find it mentioned anywhere.

I've also seen pastern wraps recommended but I don't know how well they'd work on a horse with a lot of feather?

You might find it cheaper elsewhere though, I haven’t looked.

It’s a bit like coloured vaseline in texture, so would probably work well. I’ve only used it on a bite that turned a bit nasty and it sorted that.

yes definitely.

An alternative is Honey Heel which is fantastic. It stays on really well (bloody hard to wash off your hands afterwards). I use that for scrapes and things if they are out in the wet.

I use the Keratex mud shield powder which is good as not messy.

Or I find Equine America Fungatrol really good, and EA products tend to be widely stocked.

The problem I find with the sticky creams is that then the mud sticks on, and I worry that this just creates a breeding ground for bacteria.
