Sorry this might be quite to the point as currently at the yard. Horse stood on a large stone/rock on monday evening coming in from the field. He wouldn’t weight bare until it was pulled out. I noticed he had strong pulse that evening in that leg only. Farrier was due Wednesday and I mentioned it to him, he tested with hoof testers around pedal bone(ems horse with laminitis history) and there was no reaction. He did note that there was a slight bit of heat in that hoof compared to others. Horse was kept in Wednesday and Thursday as weather was dreadful and field is just a mud pit. Put out today and slow on turnout but thought due to arthritis. Brought him in and there’s definitely something not right, he has his further forward than the almost pointing but will weight bare although you can see the other is taking the weight. Still have a pulse. So, hit me with possibilities! My gut doesn’t think laminitis as there’s no other signs and I’m on watch out for it like a hawk. Abscess? He never has abscesses. But now 24 this year and maybe compromised or ground had been too muddy. Arghhh. Going to poultice anyway.
