My horse had surgery to cut away lots of horrible pus and gunk after a long standing hoof abscess couldn't be sorted by farriery alone. Does anyone have any experience of how long it will take for the raw tissue to form a skin over? He's got a bar shoe and hospital plate on and I'm changing the Manuka dressings every other day. I know it will take a long time for the hoof to grow down and I'm not in a rush to ride but it would be good to get an expectation of when the "rawness" is likely to be sealed over.
