My cob has a patch of seedy toe behind the front clip on his near fore hoof and today he has gone quite lame on that hoof/leg. I am pretty convinced that he has a touch of infection but luckily my farrier is due on thurdsay so will be able to look at it then. In the meantime do you think it is worth poulticing/hot tubbing the foot or wait for a definite diagnosis from my farrier?
Also, as he is only lame at trot is it ok to turn him out?
Finally, I do have some cornecrescine hoof disenfectant so is it worth putting some on the area of seedy toe, or is that a waste of time now if there may already be an infection or abcess present?
Any advice much appreciated.
