For those of you who use hoof boots, please tell me it gets easier to put the hoof boots on!

I’ve just bought some Equine Fusion Active boots and I put them on for the first time yesterday and struggled. ☹️. Pics of his hooves and measurements were sent to the shop and I went with their recommendation of size and style. It‘s going to be an expensive mistake if I don’t get on with them.

(No comments of going barefoot please)

I think they loosen a bit when they break them in.

It can get more difficult the further into the trim cycle you get. Is the horse due for a trim soon? What does he measure now vs the measurements you sent to the shop?

Years ago I had a horse in boots. I fumbled around the first few times, then got the hang of it.

Practice and you may find a rubber mallet helpful in the early days. If you sent all the photos and measurements straight after a trim which is normal they may have grown and be a bit tight. It certainly gets easier, DP is booted all round and it’s takes me less than a minute per boot plus he has OR boots and knee boots to put on as well.

haven't used fusions but as above, without powerstraps I could get the gloves on by getting them in the right spot and F just using his weight to step into the boots but you did need them in the right place first. I definitely got better as used to do it mid walk out as took them off for grass.

With powerstraps easier with a rubber mallet but still doable without.

I had some Equine Fusion Jogging Shoes (as advised by Hoof Bootique after I emailed photos for size) and was never able to get them on.
His Cavallos go on and off with no problems at all; I wonder if EF boots are just trickier to wrangle

the photos were taken as soon as he was trimmed and boots arrived 3 days later. The Acitves are advertised as being the easiest of the Fusion boots to put on.

I haven’t used equine fusions, but I did find the Scoots got easier to put on once I got the knack. They didn’t loosen up as such, I just learned how to wrangle with them a bit better.

My back much prefers the Cavallos, though, they are easy peasy to fit but are a tad clumpy for riding.

I always found Cavallos easy to put on but really never liked them once the were on. I have Scoot boots now and am a complete convert! Really easy to get on even though they are snug once they are on. Don't move at all and the horses aren't trippy which has been a problem in Cavallos and in metal shoes.

I do suspect there's a knack to getting the difficult ones on and it'll get a bit easier.

I use equine fusions and have found the trick is to make sure i pull both of the velcro 'wings' quite wide and make sure that the velcro tab is pulled quite far out of the ring so they're nice and loose :)
