Has anyone got any recommendations for hoof boots that can take pads?
My mare has been barefoot for nearly 3 years but I have just changed to a trimmer from my farrier and while her feet are good, they could be better. So the trimmer has said put her in pads for a bit to get her really comfy and improve the backbof her foot. I have cavallos which I have put pads in but they are twisting.
She has got a flare to the inside of feet and it seems to make it hard to get them to do up around the top of her foot and no matter how tight I do the straps up they seem to twist.
When they twist, they are really hard to twist back so they are sung/tight in the actual foot.
She wears scoots normally and they stay put but they are snug to her foot and don't take pads well.
So any ideas on a boot that I can pad? I've got measurements but I'm just not sure which might be a good stating point. Are the other cavallos a more snug to the foot fit?

Does she really need the pads? Is she sore without?

Was she footsore before the new hoof person took over?

I would normally recommend Cavallo treks.

Not sore but not rock crunching and could do with having a stronger heel landing/digital cushion.
I'll take a look at the treks, thank you.

I have pads for my scoots, they fit well with no issues. You might need to go up a size to accommodate the pads, that’s what I did.

Thanks. I've tried the Scoot pads without much success put I want to use softer ones. I did have some larger scoots from when i first transitioned her but sold them as they no longer fitted. I think I will give the treks a go and then look at scoots if they dont work.

Probably best speaking to a hoof boot supplier for advice. The Saddlery shop, urban horse and hoof boot boutique all have good reputations.

I'm a big fan of The Hoof Geek blog and I really like her blog about EP pads. They would be my chosen pad for the reasons you've specified needing one. They come in different sizes but will affect the boot fit.

That's why it would be best to speak to a supplier and discuss the need for a pad so that they can provide the right fit kits.

Has the trimmer taken more off than the previous farrier making the boots too big?

Nope, scoots still fit fine, she was over due but the measurements are still the same as previous trims.
When they twist they are really hard to twist back,
