Hi All

I'm having a bit of a nightmare with hoof boots.

I bought some Cavellos a couple of years ago which 'served a purpose' but they weren't great and the right boot was prone to coming off in anything faster than a walk :(

I've decided my TB would benefit from boots again. I've re measured his feet and his right is 140mm wide and 125mm long (left is more normal) i'm struggling to find a boot that will fit his right foot so wondered if adapting his Cavello is an option? How do people adapt their boots and what do you use?

You might be better going down the route of buying singles, such as the glove/backcountry or transition. Otherwise, easyboot sell a mix to pour into boots to adapt them. I bought some*years ago, but decided it was too much of a faff. I used to use pads inside to make the fit tighter (epics), but getting the right boot was so much better!

Hi Fran,

I looked into the buying as singles as I thought that would be the answer but it appears the boots aren't available in the size of his right foot i.e wider than long

Have you tried speaking to any of the people who specialise in selling hoof boots? You may get some useful advice. There are so many boots and boot types available now, and more being released almost every month it would seem (in the last two months Renegade Vipers, Easyboot Transitions and yesterday I saw new Cavallos!).

I would suggest either HoofBootique (lady has been on mat. leave but may now be back) or Cannock Chase Equine. Both have a range of different makes and sizes, and can give lots of advice in terms of fitting awkward shaped and sized hooves :)
